Tokyo Vacation Photographer Cost: Packages and Extra Fees

Updated: Oct 27

Short answer: FIRST FILM JOURNEYS currently lists Tokyo photo experiences at US$398, US$498 and US$598, including Japanese consumption tax.
They offer different session lengths, areas and deliverables. Transport, admission, food and location fees are separate unless your written proposal includes them. Compare the total agreed experience rather than treating every Tokyo photographer's price as equivalent.
A low starting price and a longer private photo walk answer different needs. Before comparing quotations, decide whether you want a few quick portraits, a relaxed neighborhood experience, two contrasting areas or photographs plus a short film.
This guide explains our published packages and a practical way to compare other offers without inventing a citywide average.
Our current Tokyo photography packages
TOKYO SNAP — US$398
The published plan is 90 minutes in one neighborhood, with 40+ edited photographs, English pre-session planning and gentle posing guidance.
It can be a useful starting point when you prefer a compact route and want to keep the rest of the day available for sightseeing.
One neighborhood does not mean one identical background. The useful question is how a permitted walk can give you variety without spending the session on transfers. A specific shop, temple interior or private venue is not automatically included.
TOKYO STORY — US$498
The published plan is 2.5 hours across two contrasting areas, with 70+ edited photographs, a custom route, English planning and local guidance.
Consider it when changing the atmosphere matters to you and the whole group is comfortable with the proposed movement between areas.
Do not divide the price by the number of landmarks. Travel, a relaxed warm-up and time to enjoy the route are part of the schedule. Two areas should serve the story, not become an exhausting checklist.
TOKYO MOTION — US$598
The published plan is 3 hours across two areas, with 80+ edited photographs and a 15–25 second vertical highlight film.
It suits a brief that deliberately includes motion as well as still portraits. It is not a promise of a long documentary, ceremony coverage or unlimited footage.
Our photo plans include 5 preview images within 72 hours and a complete online photo gallery within 10 days.
Film delivery timing is stated in the written proposal. Check the current Experiences page before booking; the accepted proposal controls your specific arrangements.

Two equal totals can hide different durations and inclusions. Compare the written route, time and deliverables before choosing. Wix stock image “Red Calculator”; not an actual quotation, invoice or customer payment.
Compare these five things before comparing price
Time: Is the quoted duration the entire session, and how are transfers or requested changes handled?
Route: Are the locations close enough for your pace, and are required permissions addressed?
Photographs: How many edited files are included, what does editing cover, and how are downloads delivered?
Communication: Can the planning and on-the-day direction happen in the language you need?
Terms: What is the total, when is payment required, and what happens if the plan changes?
An offer for one person, a couple or a family may use different pricing rules. Ask for the price for your actual headcount rather than assuming the public starting price covers every group size.
Likewise, a photo count is not proof that two photographers offer the same style or level of preparation.
What can sit outside the package price?
Our published prices include Japanese consumption tax. They do not automatically include transport, admission, meals or location fees. Guests use public transport or licensed taxis and pay the operator directly, unless the proposal states another included arrangement.
For example, comparing two areas may introduce a transfer, while choosing a particular venue may introduce an admission fee or a permission requirement.
These are planning questions, not hidden surprises to accept at the meeting point. Ask which amounts are fixed and which depend on your route.
Styling, attire and formal wedding journeys need a custom quotation. A request for kimono, hair and makeup or a wedding outfit does not turn those items into standard package inclusions.
Published optional additions
Extra 30 minutes: US$100.
Another neighborhood: from US$150.
Next-day 15-photo preview: US$100.
Vertical film upgrade: US$200.
Styling and attire: custom quote.
Availability and the total are confirmed in your proposal. Adding a film upgrade to a shorter session does not automatically change its duration or route into TOKYO MOTION.
Ask which combination actually fits your brief instead of assembling a package through arithmetic alone.
Same US$498 total, different starting points
Use this comparison to avoid buying by the final number alone. Our published TOKYO SNAP is US$398 for 90 minutes. The listed extra 30 minutes is US$100. If that addition is available and confirmed, the arithmetic is US$498 for 120 minutes.
TOKYO STORY is also listed at US$498, but its published duration is 2.5 hours—150 minutes—with two areas and 70+ edited photographs. Those are the published STORY inclusions, not automatic additions to an extended SNAP session.
So a matching price does not establish matching time, route or deliverables. Ask the provider to put the final duration, areas, image delivery and any separate costs on the same quotation before choosing between combinations.
This is a reading exercise using our public prices, not a new package, confirmed availability or a promise about how many extra photographs an extension produces. A compact one-area plan may still suit your group better than a longer itinerary.

For a useful quotation, write the people, priorities and fixed travel commitments beside the route. Wix stock image “Senior Travelers Planning”; not a verified Tokyo location or a client session.
A useful inquiry you can copy
“We will be in Tokyo on [dates], with [number of travelers]. We would like [a neighborhood walk / two areas / photos and a short film].
Our preferred atmosphere is [description]. Please confirm the total, any separate route costs, meeting point, delivery and weather arrangements.”
Include children's ages or walking needs if they affect the plan. You do not need a final list of poses or a fully mapped route before asking. Clear constraints are more useful than an ambitious itinerary that ignores travel time.
Frequently asked questions
Are these prices a Tokyo market average?
No. They are our own published prices, checked against our Experiences page. Other providers set different inclusions, headcount rules and terms; this article does not claim a citywide average or a lowest-price ranking.
Does sending an inquiry reserve the date?
No. Our booking is confirmed after you accept the written proposal, make the required payment and receive our booking confirmation. Read the booking terms before accepting.
Can I choose the cheapest plan and add several distant locations?
Request a realistic quotation first. Session time, travel and permissions still apply; a shorter package does not include an unlimited city itinerary.
